A hospital and centre for teaching and advanced research
Since its foundation in 1970, the Institut Philippe-Pinel de Montréal has become a reference in mental health, particularly in the field of forensic psychiatry. This expertise has also allowed the Institut to gain international recognition as a centre for teaching and advanced research.
An environment for health
A leader in its field, the Institut has been a Smoke-Free Hospital since October 2005. This innovative project has put a complete end to smoking throughout the entire Institut for both patients and staff. The clinical, therapeutic and economic outcomes of the project have set an example for other institutions. The Institut Philippe-Pinel de Montréal received a Prix d'excellence from the Réseau de la santé et des services sociaux for this initiative.
The Institut Philippe-Pinel de Montréal meets national standards for quality care and services established by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation (CCHSA). The CCHSA recognized the quality of care provided at the Institut by granting it a new certificate of registration for the 2005-2008 period. This recognition is a testament to the efforts of all Institut staff members and professionals to continually improve the quality of care and services.
